5 Reasons Why You Need a Social Media Strategy

Maybe you’re already on social media. Maybe you haven’t gotten on social media yet. Or maybe you’re there, but you’re super inconsistent. Either way, you need a social media strategy so you can speak clearly to your audience about how you can serve them in a way that truly resonates with them and meets your business goals.

Today, I am going to dive into 5 reasons you need to get a social media strategy for your business.

#1 You Will Know Your Target Audience

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “if you speak to everyone, you are speaking to no one” -- or something similar. The reason it's repeated so frequently when talking about marketing is because it is true. If you do not know who you are speaking to, you’re essentially yelling into the abyss of the internet with no plan.

A social media strategy starts with an industry and competitor analysis. Because of this, you will be able to hone in on your target audience. This means your content can be tailored to specifically speak to your ideal client/customer.

#2 You Will Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses

Another element of a good social media strategy is a SWOT analysis. This looks at your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Why? Well, it allows us to start by amplifying your strengths and minimizing weaknesses.

#3 You Will Know What Your Audience Cares About

In addition to knowing your target audience, you will also know what they care about based on demographic/psychographic research as well as looking at competitors with similar audiences. If you can tell what your audience cares about, you can more easily give it to them.

#4 You Can Better Stay on Top of Things and Plan Your Content Ahead of Time

When you have a social media strategy, you know your goals and how you intend to reach them. This makes it possible to plan and create your content ahead of time. This means no more posting on the fly and no more wondering what to post.

#5 You Can Test Your Tactics and Strategies to Make Sure You Reach Your Business Goals

There is no one-size-fits-all strategy for growing on social media, so you have to test things out and see what works for you. Often this leads small business owners to just start throwing things at the wall until something hopefully sticks -- which means you’re going to be burned out, frustrated, and inconsistent. AND you won’t actually learn anything because you’re not testing strategically.

I know you do not have time for that.
